So basically, this is my blog just to keep anyone who's interested up to date on what I'm doing right now. I can't make any promises as to how often I will update, as it is just whenever I have time. Oftentimes, my updates are just useless little posts of icons and such that I snagged on the internet earlier. Those are solely to entertain me. More about me

Another set of random facts about me:

  • I love fonts like... sex. They're wonderful and I am obsessed with finding the perfect font for every situation.
  • I think I would be a good Pure Romance consultant
  • I saw a picture of my ex today and had the very evil reaction of thinking "aww, thats my [boy]"
  • I don't think guys need to pay for things for me.
  • So... fanfiction. I can't even admit that....

Sacrifice

While I much prefer for my religion, or any other sects falling under the neo-pagan umbrella, to not be associated with ritual/animal sacrifice as we do not practice any such thing, I do feel that the following quote is ridiculous...

"A pernicious misconception about the Druids, both past and present is the accusation of human and animal sacrifice. Modern Druids do not practice any form of human or animal sacrifice. Any evidence that the ancient Druids did is very sparse and not well substantiated. In other words, there is very little, if any proof that Druids practice or practiced human or animal sacrifice."

Druids today would never dream of practicing and sort of sacrifice, but to say that historically Druids have not used sacrifice in religious practice would probably be untrue. In fact, many ancient cultures sacrificed animals and people. The Druids, Romans, and Aztecs to name a few.

While I weirdly want a triforce tattoo...

Throughout the rest of his life, Raccoon Mario led Brian on a journey of failed <BR/>relationships, constant mockery in public places, job rejections, and eventually, suicide.

Jesus Camp

My mother and I are watching the documentary Jesus Camp. Let me tell you my overall feelings toward this "children's ministry", It's fucking scary.

At one point, the children are kneeling on the ground and crying and my mom looks right at me and says "This is why I don't like religion".

I cannot ever picture subjecting my children to bizarre, brain washing situations like this. These are the kind of people you should be protecting your children from.

Some of the kids are as young as probably 4 years old and they are discussing abortion with them and how they need to pray that "righteous judges" be appointed to the supreme court so that they will overturn Roe V. Wade. These children are far too young to even be discussing abortion. That is not a topic that can be truly understood by a child nor should it be put upon them that is is their responsibility to do something about it.

My responses to this film.

  • Indoctrinating children is apparently a profitable business though. That's how this woman makes her money.
  • Liberalism is not dead, I would venture to say that the Unite States becomes more liberal each year as is apparent in the change in customs, television content, dress, and much more.
  • Some of the techniques used on these children is equivalent to mental abuse. i.e. putting them into high stress situations using sound.
  • If your beliefs need to be taught using fear than that should be a bad sign.
  • Behavior at these types of camps is probably very similar to "Children of God Cult" or the behavior of Warren Jeffs and his helpers.

Really Nickelback?

So not only is Nickelback's new CD absolutely terrible, they debuted their new music video today and it's a piece of tripe as well.

So, why are the new album and video so bad?

The album features such beautiful, heartwarming lyrics as:

"S is for the simple need.
E is for the ecstasy.
X is just to mark the spot,
Because that's the one you really want.
(Yes!) Sex is always the answer, it's never a question,
'Cuz the answer's yes, oh the answers (Yes)
Not just a suggestion, if you ask the question,
Then it's always yes. Yeeeah! "
  --from the song S.E.X.

The music video for "Gotta Be Somebody" starts with a sweeping shot of space, overlaid by Chad Kroger's vamping. Which leads to, but of course, the bad playing in the middle of a stadium. Now, while this may not sound so bad, compare it to the video for "Savin' Me" (off their last album) which features a man who is saved from death and is now able to see countdown timers above everyone's head telling when they will die so he makes it his mission to save them. They also had "If Everyone Cared" which, while simply done, has a beautiful message about some of the greatest figures in civil rights history. The section about Betty Williams who organized a peace march about the deaths of two children in Northern Ireland makes me cry. (The march was interrupted by protesters. A week later, she staged a second march that was 35,000 strong). The video for "Far Away" is not terrific but it's about a fireman and it's sort of sad but still good.

I truly feel that Nickelback dropped the ball with "Dark Horse" and the ball didn't have that fall to far.

Encapsulated

I have chosen to remember you as you once were, not as who I know you are today. I was telling your tales again last night, and somehow, everyone finds stories about is adorable. I still find you adorable.

It is a dangerous game I'm playing... To remember you as the sweet and caring boy I knew is to risk forgetting that you are haggard and high now. If you were to call...

I do not miss you, and I will not. I simply allow myself precious moments of indulgence to relive those soft fragile memories of blue eyes and first love.

Oh god

Another amazing line related to the last.

"and I imagined the sound it would make if his body hit the oposite wall with enough force to break most of his bones." Again, Edward thinking about Mike.

EDIT

Oh god, I must add this quote.

"I tried the window, and it was not locked, though it stuck due to long disuse. I slid it slowly aside, cringing at each faint groan of the metal frame. I would have to find some oil for next time...

Next time? I shook my head"

Edward sneaking into Bella's bedroom while she sleeps and he's still slightly considering eating her.

EDIT 2

Edward is the fucking funniest thing I have ever heard.

He views himself as a flailing muppet in love. I love it. YUM!

More midnight sun

I just read what may be my favorite line ever.

Edward about Mike Newton: "All the same, I amused myself by imagining backhanding him across the room and into the far wall... It probably wouldn't injure him fatally... "
