So basically, this is my blog just to keep anyone who's interested up to date on what I'm doing right now. I can't make any promises as to how often I will update, as it is just whenever I have time. Oftentimes, my updates are just useless little posts of icons and such that I snagged on the internet earlier. Those are solely to entertain me. Chosen

Ok, so I just finished Chosen by P.C. and Kristen Cast. Ok... my feelings about this series have only become more mixed.

First, I want to thank the Casts for getting one thing right that every other Young Adult novel is terrified of. Teens swear and have sex. And sometimes, they have sex with the wrong people, its not all lace and candles and bullshit.

With that said, Zoey is still a whore. Pick a fucking guy already. Oh, you aren't going to? Well then you get no one.

The people I've talked to about this book have said the ending was shocking and whatever. This series is actually fairly predictable. And there's going to be 3 more. I'm sure I'll read them.

Why? Because I have a really hard time giving up on a series. With the exception of Sweep, apparently, which is still stacked up on my window seat should I ever consider joining back with that ridiculous, drawn out crap.

Thats really the only review I have for Chosen. I really need to read something that isn't Young Adult or about vampires so that I can attempt to save my brain cells before they're totally lost to me. But, I probably won't. I haven't decided what I'm going to read next. I have The Faerie Path on the table in front of me but I read a really bad review for it, so I'm a little worried.

In the next few weeks I'm going to start the Twilight Book Club Plan. Basically, the Twilight series has 78 chapters from the three books. If you start on a certain day, and read one chapter each day, then you'll read the epilogue of Eclipse on the day that Breaking Dawn is released. This is a good countdown method for me, so I think I'll do it.

Ahhhh TAKs week

I love getting to sleep in four of the five days this week. It's pretty much perfect. I also believe that I may not go in on Friday at all. It seems stupid to go just for a TA period. Also on Friday, I'm going to get my hair hi-lighted so I'll be a blond again by Friday night.

What have I been doing lately? Eating Cheeze-its. Along with everyone else in my family. Someone decided to bring home a family sized box of big Cheeze-its and we practically demolished it in less than 24 hours. Family sized is really dependent on the family, because once we had finished them there were still some of us family members who still wanted Cheeze-its. So then a second box came home. Same thing happened as the first time. So my Mom got wise, today she brought home two family sized boxes and a box of spicy Cheese-its. They are delicious! Viva spicy Cheeze-its!

As I am sure you can tell from the whole paragraph about snacks, not much has been going on. GingerJew has an interview tomorrow with my boss to try and get a job where I work.

Everyone seems to be getting excited for prom. Me? Not so much. It's hard to get too jazzed up when I'm taking Mothra. I love her, but I'm definitely not going to get laid. I am more excited about Project Celebration. I get to go plays games and win awesome stuff.

Can I Cheeze-overdose? Oh, we'll see.

I went to Staples today to buy paper. I hate going back to that store, it's so awkward cause I worked there. And they didn't have the card stock I needed. Bleh.

The first Grove meeting is like a month and a half away, and we already have two RSVPs. Our event pages on Witchvox have gotten like 100 hits each, and a few people have posted in the forum.

I talked to my old High Priestess via email. She told me that she's happy for me about starting the Grove, and even offered up her house for us to hold a ritual at. And she invited me to a Beltane ritual with a group she has been attending. I doubt I'm going to be able to make it, but they're going to have a Maypole, which sounds like fun, so I hope I can

Betrayed

Ok, so again I finished a book and waited forever to come review. I finished Betrayed by P.C. and Kristen Cast. I have to say, I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Second books can often be better because you aren't worried about all the exposition that you have in a first book. The author assumes you are familiar with the setting, characters, and back story.

So Betrayed was definitely more exciting than Marked. Still incredibly Pagan. Zoey finds out that someone she has previously trusted and revered is up too some very shady behavior. That was an interesting twist. We see more of Zoey's ex boyfriend Heath. As well as her current boyfriend Erik, and wanna be boyfriend Loren. So this is where I draw a problem with Zoey. She's kind of a two timing ho. One minute, she's drinking Heath's blood and rubbing his... bulge. The next she's with Erik acting totally normal. And then a few minutes after that, she's getting all hot and bothered by Loren and his (apparently sexy) haikus.

In Betrayed we are again faced with the sadness of the death of a fledgling. Only this time, it is someone very close to Zoey. I didn't really see this coming, and I will be honest. I was sitting on my bed, holding the book, crying. It was so sad.

All in all, I really liked this book. So worth reading! I'm half way into Chosen already and I know that as soon as I finish it I'm going to be wishing the next one was out. Oh well

Tempt Me

Ok, I hated the layout, so I changed it again. Same theme, totally different look. I'm not crazy about the green (I was going to change it to purple but meh) but all in all it's pretty cool. The acid green of the apple looks so poisonous. I totally stole the image though (shhh Shocked). Lets see how long this one lasts

Found out already

So, as you know, I am founding a Pagan community group. As of late, I have begun to advertise our first meeting and ritual because I finally picked a date for them. So I posted our information onto Witchvox. (If you don't know, Witchvox is the best networking site for Pagans ever). I also posted a message on the Moonlady newsletter.

We got quite a few hits on the site, and had several new people join our mailing list. So, while I was looking at our mailing list I saw the name of the woman that, until only a few months ago, I considered my High Priestess.

GingerJew and I subconsciously made the choice to leave her circle because she was always out of town and we wanted to be able to having Pagan meet ups more often than 4 times a year. Our choice was furthered by the fact that she is... not the most agreeable person. She doesn't like very many people and had developed problems with a lot of people in the Pagan community. I just don't want to be categorized into that because I practice with her.

I learned a lot in the years I had circle with her, and I'm sure it will greatly influence how I run the Grove circles but I don't know what to do about the fact that she might come to one of our meetings.

We didn't tell her that we were starting the Grove yet and this wasn't how I wanted her to find out. I think she'd be upset with us if we ran into her at one of our rituals.

Marked

I finished Marked by P.C. and Kristen Cast a few days ago but I was too lazy to review.

Ok, this is going to be pretty short. I liked the book. It was really very good and surprisingly original for a book about Vampires. I love that the vamps develop the desire to drink blood as they age and that all vamps start as humans who get sick.

All in all, this is a very good book. And who could be more yummy than Erik? Mmmm mmm good.

My one comment though, these are the most Pagan vampires of all time. They're worshiping the Goddess, casting circle, invoking the elements, celebrating Samhain. What? I don't get it. I will admit, it is very interesting to see the conglomeration of Wiccan and vampirism, I never would have thought of it.

I'm already half way through Betrayed, which is the sequel to Marked.

I'll be honest, I didn't have any really strong feelings about the book or I'd write more.

Justice

ok, so this girl totally ripped off one of my t-shirt designs and was attempting to make money off of my design, when all she did was change the color of one word. Not only that, I would say that it is my best selling design. Basically, after I stumbled across this the other day I was uber pissed. I reported her to the site twice and left her a comment letting her know she'd been found out.

Today I checked up on it again, and it had been deleted! Yes! Damn straight! I feel better now. Big Smile

General News

Just a few things that don't fit into either of the previous entries.

Queen Funk is making me a website in his web mastering class. I am pretty excited about this. I really hope it can serve as a hub for all my shit. I mean, I have this, my myspace, my deviantart, and my t-shirt site. And that's not including my FictionPress stuff, that I don't really reveal to many people. It would be nice to have one place to put it all together.

Getting this done, though, means me getting my lazy ass together and getting all of the images and info ready for QF to use. And that means finally putting all my t-shirt designs into the new preview format I have for them.

I do have a new logo, as far as I am concerned, its pretty awesome (much better than this ugly site). So that will debut on the new site.

After I get the new site up and running, and hopefully get an email address for my design stuff, then I can make some business cards. I just found an awesome way to make them on Zazzle that is very reasonably priced for double sided, full color cards. They also offer this skinny style of card that they refer to as a "Profile Card". Its for putting a picture of yourself and all your contact information like your number and myspace url. I guess you pass it out when people like ask for your number. If I thought I would use them, I would get some. I think they're fun.

Well, I already took my sleepy meds for the night, and I still have some other things I need to do before they kick in, so I'm done for tonight.

Blood and Chocolate

So I decided I might start a little line of book reviews. So, the book I just finished Bood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause.

I decided to read this book because I had just read Kaluse's novel Freaks: Alive on the Inside. I really enjoyed that so I thought that BC might be good.

Let me just say, my preliminary opinion of this book came from the movie with the same title. I enjoyed it but I felt it was pretty cheesy. The book and movie could not be more differant. It is well worth reading the book.

First of all, the movie was set in like, Romania. How cliche can you be for a werewolf movie? The book is set in (if I recall correctly) West Virginia. Vivian goes to a regular high school and it a pretty normal teen. She meets Aiden and they start to date.

Now, I can't honestly decide who is cuter; movie or book Aiden. Probably the movie, because in the book hes a bit of a wimp.

However, I was incredibly pleased by the portrayl of Gabriel in the book as compared to the movie. I thought he was actually really cute. He just sounded like a sexy, nice guy with amazing leadership skills who, pretty much, kicks some serious ass. In the movie he was a creep.

Now, I don't want to give away the ending to either the book or movie, but I will say that they are totally differant. I prefered the book. It just seemed more believable. With the choice that Vivian makes in the movie she would be some what tormented by her choice for the rest of her life. The book takes a path that is much more logical due to the fact that it is a teen love story and that Aiden reacts to her being a werewolf in the logical manner, fear.

I was, all in all, very happy with the book. I imagine I'll probably read Silver Kiss soon, but right now I am elbow deep in Marked by PC and Kristen Cast. So I would expect that the next review will be that. After that, possibly Betrayed (the sequel to Marked) or one of the many other books living in the bag next to my bed. I probably have about... between 20 and 50 books that I haven't read yet.
